Summer Must Have: the (eco) Maxi Dress

Just the other day at the office water cooler (no, really), I overheard a few über chic ladies gushing over a maxi dress they found online. How timely, considering that I had already decided to bring you one of my eco favorites in the way of this easy summer trend.
The maxi dress comes in many color and fabric variations, but the basic look is a floor-length, flowing frock with deep v-neck, thin straps, and empire waist. It moves well from day to evening and is as comfortable as they come. Pair it with casual flips for the park and then slip into some strappy, glimmering sandals or a woven wedge for a night out.
If you’re not already familiar with Gypsy05, it’s about time you get acquainted! The brand uses organic fabrics, natural dyes, and their products are produced in a solar-powered factory. Their version of the maxi dress has been featured in People and US Weekly and is a favorite of the celebs, darling. The dress is currently on backorder, but keep on checking the site to snag your own – they restock. Or purchase the distinctive ombre version right now (shown above). You’ll have fun knocking off two summer trends in one shot: purchase the maxi dress in bright yellow (my personal favorite).

Oh no! Your must have is my “must not have” . Here’s why:

I’d like to counter Angie’s argument (presented in the link) by saying that I love the hippie look as far as dresses go… but I agree that it’s too much fabric for summer. I mean, I would get way too hot wearing a skirt that long by day. Now in the evening, or the fall (layered with a shawl or a light, floaty shirt), then I’d be in princess heaven.

I disagree, Angie. The maxi is hot. See my comment on your blog.

Love this throwback to the Seventies! I bought two long halters. Wish I had seen this eco version. Great find!
