Love the Messenger

Messenger-style bags remain true to their highly functional origins. They hold lots of stuff, especially papers and files, yet they’re sleek. Outside pockets add organizational ease, and a long strap goes over your head for security on bicycle or on foot. Today’s messenger-bag derivatives make good style sense whether you’re in the country or the city - just choose a fabric and size that suits your life. Of course, you'll want one with a good green pedigree.

EllaOsix makes very cool messenger bags using vintage fabric and restyled materials in bright, modern patterns and palettes. The Mimi bag, about 12.5 x 11 x 3.2 inches, is $52.50 via EllaOsix’s Etsy shop. The brand name comes from the designer’s own vintage – she began selling bags in 2006 (after 25 years of sewing) so the name is abbreviated from “Ella since ’06.” These bags are made in the Netherlands, so allow time for the lowest-impact shipping options.
