Beach Glass or Semi-Precious Stone?

I love jewelry, but unfortunately, I have a penchant for the expensive stuff. I keep a stash of magazine tear-outs highlighting all my favorite outrageously priced pieces on the small chance that my prince charming will reveal a large fortune. A pipe dream, I know, but heck, a girl can dream, can’t she?
When I found Amy Faust’s recycled beach glass jewelry, I thought for a split second that I might be adding a page or two to my semi-precious bauble clippings. My favorite is the bubble ring (shown here), which has a price tag that took my breath away ($425). How could recycled glass end up costing so much? Beautiful and eco-friendly it is, but semi-precious it certainly is not. Is it worth the splurge? Would you pay this much to adorn yourself in green?

I really like this ring. Soothing colors, unusual material, and the matte finish on the metal is perfect. Very classy.
