This really applies to all aspects of life - we should all try to adhere to the "Live Slow" philosophy when buying products for our home, beauty care, food, etc. - make them quality products that last a lifetime and keep it simple. We don't need all the cheap plastic items from the Target that end up in the landfills a year later. Thanks again for the post and making us think about this! Great post Elaine! Personally, I like to keep a very zen closet -- I get overwhelmed with too much of "nothing to wear." I buy a few well-chosen expensive items (meant to last for years!) and then the rest comes from 2nd-hand, vintage, or gifts from friends. Best of all, Clothing Swap Parties with your girlfriends! Yeah, I like that idea of “Slow Fashion.” Personally, I like to keep a very zen closet — I get overwhelmed with too much of “nothing to wear.”

I buy a few well-chosen expensive items (meant to last for years!) and then the rest comes from 2nd-hand, vintage, or gifts from friends.

Great info. A young colleague of mine went to H&M last weekend and walked out after 30 seconds. "Yuck, horribly made" was her response. I told her "Yep, in more ways than one".
