Pure Reflections with Kirei Frames

Kirei is a Japanese word for clean, pure and truthful. It's also the name of a material called Kirei Board. The material is born of reclaimed agricultural fiber from the sorghum plant.

Instead of tossing the stalks in landfills or burning them after harvest, they're transformed into handsome, non-toxic frames for a collection of ultra clean yet earthy mirrors.

I really like both the asymmetrical OCM Mirror ($319) and the square Tension Mirror ($419) made from Kirei Board and low-VOC finishes. I found them at buygreen while searching for sustainable mirror materials for a modern bath in a mid-century house. We know how well Asian purity blends with mid-century function. The Kirei designs make an understated impact when mounted over a clean, organic wood console.
