Keeping Used Office Furniture Out of Landfills
For three decades Karen Lewis of Boston sold office furniture across the nation, the last ten years pre-owned. Her newest venture is The Furniture Trust, where she connects corporation cast-offs with schools and nonprofit groups while keeping unwanted furniture out of landfills. Surplus items are sold and the proceeds support pancreatic cancer research, the disease her husband has been battling since last summer. Any leftover furniture is recycled down to its component parts and put back into the raw material stream. Not only can someone’s trash be another’s treasure, it can also help save lives.
