Philanthropic Shopping in Need of Green
We’ve learned through all of our green reading and research that there are many different ways to define what it means to be eco-friendly. While not inherently natural, recycled, or sustainable, Joan Hornig Jewelry is devoted to philanthropy.
100% of profits from her designs are donated to a network of charities. Here’s where the eco-factor comes in. You direct the cause to which your purchase’s profits go and the long list on Hornig’s site has yet to include an environmental cause. So, choose a bauble to your liking and recommend an eco-charity.
Joan Hornig started her foundation after 20 years of working on Wall Street as a way to combine her passion for jewelry, education, and philanthropy. Currently sold online and exclusively at Bergdorf’s in New York, the collection will soon also be available in San Francisco.
