You are right, Sara, it is tongue-and-cheek. The reference is not to mock the Hebrew training but to highlight the volume of these events the kids attend at a day school–some 50 during the “season”.

Yes, I’m talking more about the volume of the events we are facing at a day school where more than 50 kids have the rituals and parties. I fully respect the Hebrew training involved, as well.

Ouch. Let’s hope your rabbi does not read EcoSalon. I thought that a Bat Mitzvah was a celebration of years of Jewish study, not a “debutante” coming out party. Good luck with the shoes.
