Prunes Beat Blueberries for Antioxidants

Prunes, prunes, the magical fruit, the more you eat, the more you “¦neutralize free radicals and protect against cell damage?
Yes, you read that right: dried plums, also known as prunes, top the list of fruits tested for antioxidants in a Tufts University study, even surpassing the almighty blueberry. The Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC) score for unglamorous prunes: 5,770. The score for runners up raisins and blueberries: 2,830 and 2,400.
Of course, the researchers didn’t test cacao or goji berries, which blow prunes out of the water with ORAC scores of 62,100 and 25,300, but don’t tell “˜em I told you so. Maybe some chocolate-covered prunes would make the much-maligned fruit a little more palatable!
