Recycling Time
Uruguay-born artist Eduardo Milieris, whose watches are well known for their unique design and craftsmanship, creates his timepieces by hand with age-old processes in mind. Through his work, he hopes to preserve the tradition of craftsmanship from another time. He toys with the concept of rebirth, breathing new life into long lost pieces of history.
Milieris’ designs can be considered industrial chic – they are made from recycled metals and embellished with sterling silver, copper, and brass. The metals are distressed and oxidized to give the watches a rustic look. Each watch face is then individually painted. All styles are limited editions (only 1,000 are made), guaranteeing that you’ll have a one-of-a-kind piece ($370).
