Sala Pe
When I was a child, I was mesmerized by my neighbor’s garden. Not only did she have a green thumb that yielded a lush collage of plants and flowers, but she also had a charming collection of garden knickknacks to accompany all the blooms and foliage. A miniature wooden house nestled under the branches of a sturdy oak tree was my favorite.
When I asked her about it, she explained that a sala pe or spirit house is much more than just a decoration.
