Organics vs. standard fare.

That is the great debate. I compare the prices, I often find things like celery and cilantro cheaper in the organic section so I have learned to check the prices before I choose one way or the other. It is fast becoming a mistake to assume that organic is always going to have the higher price.

This list is interesting and useful. Knowing what the worst offenders are would be similarly handy;) especially when eating out because most restaurants don't use organic vegis.

Sarah--can I ask for a sister article to this one???

SpaGoddess's last blog post..Cool as a Cucumber

Yes, even though I wrote this post, I really want to say that it's important to support organic foods as much as you can, because organic farming is healthier for the soil and our waterways. It's more than just the veggies. The healthier the soil, the healthier and more mineral-rich the fruits and veggies will be. As always, Shop Smart... Shop Wisely... Shop Consciously!

I totally appreciate your blog, however, "cheap" is a relative term, especially when it comes to supermarket vegetables:

This is a good cheat sheet for those days when I'm feeling to cheap to spring for organic. The closest farmers' market is about 45 minutes from me, so I can't justify driving out there all the time.
