Eco-boutiques are popping up all over the web thanks to visionary retailers willing to take risks. While the debate over green consumption asks tough questions (is marketing lots of green stuff the answer to our consumerism woes?), it is clear that when it comes to eco fashion, the mantra is quality over quantity.

I hope Mom doesn’t mind, (she’s my #1 fan) but I have to let you in on a conversation we had recently about sizing for curvier women. My mother, fully comfortable with her figure and maybe uneven sizing (bigger on the bottom than top), can’t find anything great to wear anymore so she’s taken to making her own clothes.

I don’t know how many times I have women tell me they can’t wear leggings and tunics: “I look pregnant!”

When I first got into eco-fashion years ago, Prairie Underground was one of the firsts on my radar. I loved its fashion forward takes on everyday closet staples – not to mention that two young gals from Seattle were doing it all by themselves, from concept to manufacturing, all in Seattle. Here’s how it works:
