We show off a lot of ecoSkin fashion around EcoSalon because well, we like their style. And now they’ve captured the latest fashion forward off-the-shoulder trend with the Mercury Top.

Somehow ecoSkin has found a flattering way to recreate this look from the flamboyant days of Flashdance. Frankly, I’m shocked. But even I might consider wearing this easy-going and slightly sexy piece made of bamboo and tencel. It looks comfortable and would be perfectly paired with skinny jeans or a slim denim skirt. Born in Taiwan and raised both there and in the San Francisco Bay Area, Ann Chen possesses an East meets West design sensibility. She subscribes to vintage conceptualization cast into modern idealism, using only sustainable, eco-friendly, and cruelty-free materials. Torn up, crossed, twisted, and reconstructed, Ann has created a simple t-shirt collection that packs a lot of punch. Clearly influenced by Asian street style, her line is also reminiscent of 80s America – truly a cross of disparate tastes.

Feminine masculine, masculine feminine – in these days of gender fluidity, anything goes. Flirt with florals one day and dominate with stark, bold colors the next. Menswear inspires runways in cycles (in my calculation, about every other season or so) and it happens to be very much in vogue at the moment. Suspenders, high-waisted, wide-leg, expertly tailored button downs – can you swing it?  

If you’re new to the gender-bending scene, you may want to attempt this in phases. Start with a sexy, starched shirt and build up to adding suspenders the next time around. Or, take the plunge from the start and try this look by Meadow that hits all the high notes in one outfit. Go on, be a man.

I’m not one to clutter my closet with the latest trends – my fashion focus is more about quality than quantity. But when I see a sexy tee the likes of which has graced the cover of one or two fashion mags, I don’t shy away. Mostly because I wear my tees until they’re torn and tattered, and then I wear them some more”¦as workout tops. Next they head for the scrap heap to be used as cleaning rags. My tees get plenty of use, so I don’t feel badly about stocking up on a few new ones – as long as they’re organic, of course!

I know we talk endlessly about tees at EcoSalon, but there’s always a new design popping up that catches my eye. And even in the winter months, a short-sleeve tee worn over a thin long-sleeve tee is perfectly stylish and appropriate. I recently found two tees that are on my to-buy list for fall.

The first is this Bauhaus Printed T-Shirt by Mociun (shown at top), a Brooklyn based fashion house led by Caitlin Mociun, “a trendsetter to be watched”. It has a sexy scoop neck and a modern black, red and yellow print on off-white 100% organic cotton. The design is contemporary, fun and also reminiscent of the German design school founded by Walter Gropius and operated from 1919 to 1933. (Just a little design and architecture history for those interested.) Available at Beklina in small, medium and large for $74.

Who could resist these two brown rabbits on the Let’s… Tee by Loomstate? Sweet, subtle but slightly suggestive – it brought a smile to my serious face this morning. The bunnies are printed in chocolate brown on a natural, 100% organic cotton lightweight tee. Find it at Not Just Pretty in extra small, small, medium and large for $64.

Sexy by day, sexy by night. We all love a look that translates well from sunrise to sunset. Not only is it more economical and eco-friendly, but it’s also easy for the busy green woman. Sheers plastered the runways and fall fashion magazines as one of this season’s welcome trends. Whether boldly worn alone or under a structured blazer, you’re sure to feel stylish. Here are a few picks from our favorite eco designers.

Linda Loudermilk’s striped sheer cap sleeve is a stunner. I love it with the bandeau underneath. Throw a sharp blazer over the top and you’re ready for the office.

Wear Rogan’s sheer, metallic, structured black blouse on its own with a colorful bandeau or tank underneath and you’ll have the subtly sexy masculine look that is popular this season.

Floral patterns have come a long way since the days of Laura Ashley. They’ve been flooding the runways for both spring and fall for years now, so instead of turning my nose up, I decided to embrace the trend and find some beautiful eco options. Here are my top picks from what I’ve previewed thus far this season.

Linda Loudermilk Tiered Ruffle Blouse: the bright, bold conservatory colors and layered sleeveless style would work well under a sharp black blazer. Pair it with wool trousers as shown here and you’ll hit two fall trends in one outfit.

Edun Requiem Dress: this silk shift in a Japanese-inspired print is a perfect date dress. Effortlessly chic, you’ll be comfortable and look fabulous all night.

Alchem1st Darlene Jacket and Skirt in Batik: uncompromisingly feminine, the tailored cut of this matching floral set harkens back to “˜60s pop art styles. The organic fabric and natural indigo dyes make this a perfect eco outfit.

Stewart + Brown Charcoal Day Dress: An organic staple, this Stewart + Brown number is great for layering. Worn over sweaters and leggings as shown here, you’ll stay toasty on crisp fall days.

Lav & Kush Sheer Floral Blouse: Carlie turned us onto this Lav & Kush dark floral number in her Flirting for the Earth post and I couldn’t help touting it again here.

What better way to get a message across than to wear it on your chest? These days t-shirts are no longer just about comfort. They’re also a great way to make some serious statements about the environment – all without being smug. Hey, it’s just a t-shirt!

We’re all guilty of owning a t-shirt that’s seen better days. So soft, worn to perfection ““ it’s hard to part with such a time-tested staple. But sometimes, enough is enough and you just have to let go.

When I say let go, I certainly don’t mean throw away. It’s just time to revisit your favorite tee’s form and function. Thanks to the t-shirt redo book that Haute Nature tipped us off to, you can find 99 different ways to reconstruct your tattered top. Cutting, sewing, trimming, and tying are just some of the ways to prove that sometimes the second time around does actually work out.

Time and again I face the question of what to wear over my more baring evening look to fend off the chill of breezy summer nights. A light sweater is always a good option, but personally, I try to avoid the preppy over-the-shoulder cardigan look.
