The Bottle's in the Bag

Recently I read that almost one billion plastic water bottles wind up in the trash every year in California alone.
Trust me, I’ve thrown away plenty of plastic water bottles in my day – this was before I bought my pink reusable Sigg bottle that I carry with me everywhere.
When I discovered that handbag designer Matt & Nat’s Spring 2008 collection included a bag made entirely from 100% recycled plastic bottles I had to share it with you.
The Re-run nylon bag in vivid fuschia, green or blue is constructed of recycled bottles and vintage vegan leather trim. Matt & Nat is an eco-organization that practices what they preach. They even have a bag recycling program. In the interest of full disclosure I am the proud owner of a Matt & Nat handbag (I am the bag fan, after all). Prices start at $125.00.

Finally someone has come up with a brilliant idea like this! After all, in this day and age, plastic bottles are an abundant “natural resource.” Ok, so not really natural, but consider back in the day when millions of bison roamed the plains…and everything was made of leather and fur…
Well, now we’ve gotta take our abundance of plastic and put it to good use. We’ve gotta work with what we’ve got.
Kudos to these designers!
