The T-shirt Pile

I could fill a garbage bag with all of the old t-shirts in my closet. I hate to take them to Goodwill knowing GW is already overflowing with old, or should I say "vintage," t-shirts and they occasionally still come in handy for dusting or to clean up my latest messy garage project. So what do you do with your old t-shirts?
Fiber artist Taryn Boyd has a very creative way of using old tees. With her impressive and, might I add, luxurious looking t-shirt shag rug she’s found a way to create cool, funky rugs from her old t-shirts.
Take a look. This is no ordinary rug, composed of 100% recycled discarded t-shirts on a durable jersey t-shirt base and naturally dyed with water and ground decaf coffee this is a far out idea that works. Taryn is currently accepting custom orders through her Etsy shop Talking Squid, starting at $55 for a 3×5 rug and up to $365 for a 5×8.

Great minds think alike!
I actually tore a bunch of old t-shirts into little strips and then crocheted a little round rug. Time consuming, but a fun hobby for the evening.

I have been a quilter for years. This seems like a fun new project, thanks!

I love this idea! It would look great for warming up my home to get “ready for fall”

HI! Any chance for a 6 or 7 foot round lime green rug? Either way, you are doing great work–artistically and environmentally.
