Third Time's the Charm for the Gremlin

I’ve always had a penchant for retro style, but no woman, myself included, wants people to think she’s haplessly stuck in a distant decade. So don’t let the name scare you: the Gremlin Clutch featured here is a stylish, modern mix of 60s peace and 70s disco (no disturbing miniature monsters or unfortunate cars in sight).
Now, dig back in your memory and try to recall the 1975 AMC Gremlin. Does this clutch seem familiar? It’s actually made from the upholstery fabric of the car! Recycled into new use, the fabric is surprisingly modern and versatile (an improvement over the original Gremlin). I can picture it with shorts and a ruffled blouse for a picnic in the park or with a gauzy dress for an evening out. $175 at EcoCitizen.

This is great. Just goes to show how yesterday’s industrial disasters are becoming today’s creative materials. In this day and age, synthetics have become a natural resource more abundant than trees and wood. I’m glad to see them recycled in creative use.
