Bright Green Spotlight: Introducing All-Eco Akasha Restaurant

You might know Chef Akasha from her Hollywood Dish cookbook or her popular articles in vegetarian cooking magazines. Now even non-celebrities can enjoy her fabulous food at Akasha, her brand-new restaurant in Culver City.

What makes Akasha notable even for non-Angelenos, aside from excellent American cuisine for both vegetarians and carnivores, is its full-spectrum commitment to sustainability. Food is sourced from organic and local farms and artisan producers, seafood comes from Marine Stewardship Council-certified fisheries, and the wine list includes organic and biodynamic vintners.

That’s  just the start. The restaurant furniture is made from organic leather, hemp and sustainable woods. Reclaimed and recycled building materials were used throughout. Waiter’s jeans and shirts are organic cotton. Cleaning and dishwashing products are biodegradable.

Following in the footsteps of pioneer organic restaurants like Restaurant Nora in Washington, D.C., Akasha is also a unique reflection of the chef’s own sustainable, spiritual and earthy style. Headed to Los Angeles? Make reservations - this spot will be busy.
