Getting Started with Safe, Organic Cosmetics

eye peeking through leaves

You’re pretty vigilant about what you put inside of your body - but how about what you put on it? Sales of natural and organic cosmetics are soaring, and with good reason. In addition to companies using sustainable ingredients and biodegradable packaging, they’ve rid their products of endocrine disrupters and toxins that are currently used in many cosmetics (for a full list visit the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics). Even the big guns, like Target and Wal-mart, have started carrying and launching their own natural and organic lines.

Companies to look for: Tarte Cosmetics are paraben-free and made with vitamins and natural oils.

Iredale Mineral Cosmetics has been selling products without chemical dyes, preservatives, or fillers and binders - like talc and mineral oil - since 1994.

Beautiful Diva: if you have a skin tone that’s not easy to match, are undergoing medical treatment that has caused surface change, or have had surgery, they’re ready to help.
