Green My Yoga

There's very little in life that is more relaxing than standing on your head.

At the beginning of this new century, yoga has replaced jogging as the perfect workout. Both a muscle toner and mental tonic, yoga leaves you relaxed and present.

You wouldn't want anything to spoil your yoga practice - such as the nagging suspicion that the mat you're on is a product of activities you heartily disapprove of. So why not make sure it isn't? Your nearest search engine can point you in a thousand different directions (green yoga is definitely a growing industry), but as a starter, here's BareFootYoga’s mat, a personal favorite of mine.
It's the original, award-winning eco mat made of natural rubber and jute ($67-71.95).

Since rubber does contain latex, if you're allergic, an eco-conscious alternative I recommend is the Earth Elements yoga mat ($38.95-42.95). Or choose the Jute and PER mat, a latex-free, decompostable, machine-washable $39 deal. Next up, persuading your yoga studio to do an eco-friendly overhaul, as this yogi did by filling the walls of his studio with recycled denim!
