Where Fashion Meets Design

What do Zaha Hadid, Vivienne Westwood, the Campana brothers, and Alexandre Herchcovitch have in common? The answer: Melissa Plastic Dreams. In support of their commitment to cutting-edge design, these talented individuals have partnered with the Sao Paulo-based shoe company focused on technological innovation and sustainability. By challenging industry norms, the company has developed a loyal following among the crème del la crème of internationally recognized designers. I know I have been on a shoe kick lately, but I just have to share this.
Launching 400 new products annually, Melissa believes in inspiration through innovation. The company’s patented MELFLEX plastic is a groundbreaking invention making a big mark on the footwear industry. Past collections are casual, comfortable, and extremely wearable (see the Campana zig zag model I blogged about earlier), but what’s got my attention now is the new Fall/Winter 2008 line. Pushing the design envelope to the next level are Westwood’s Anglomania Mary Janes, Herchcovitch’s androgynous plastic tuxedo shoes, and the pin-up charm of platform and peeptoe with Melissa Vinyl.
Form meets function, inspiration meets innovation, and fashion meets design.

I love Melissa shoes. I have that pair in a pearly pale lavender – sort of shimmery.

Hi, Hilary, what state are you located in? I got mine at an eco boutique in Petaluma, CA. I believe if you email them they will also let you know available retailers in your area.
